NBA 2K23’s exclusive PlayStation MyTEAM Challenges revealed

Game Ace Pro 0 0

The start of the 2022-2023 NBA Regular Season is quickly approaching, which means NBA 2K23 is even closer to its September 9 launch. For weeks, we’ve been teasing all-new features and now we’re excited to announce the return of exclusive challenges coming to our PlayStation 5 community!

NBA 2K23’s exclusive PlayStation MyTEAM Challenges revealed

Last year, we offered exclusive PlayStation 5 MyTEAM challenges such as “Assists against Dirk & Luka” to begin Season 1 of NBA 2K22. The latest iteration of the NBA 2K franchise will showcase similar challenges on PlayStation 5, but this year they revolve around Michael Jordan, further highlighting this year’s Championship Edition cover athlete.

Courtesy of PlayStation 5’s next-level tech, navigating to the Jordan Challenges is incredibly easy. By pressing the PS Button, while on the Main Menu, each of the Activity Cards will appear in a row. Scroll through each of the 2K23 modes which appear on Activity Cards, and when you’re ready, press SQUARE to start the Activity. It’s truly that easy.

Below, we’ve mapped out the challenges releasing with each Season this year, so you can get a sneak preview of what’s to come!

Season 1: Rookie of the Year

When Jordan set foot on the hardwood as a rookie, he wasted no time establishing himself as a bonafide force on both offense and defense. To kick off the first Season of NBA 2K23, you’ll be tasked with stopping him and his ‘85 Chicago Bulls teammates. Assemble a lineup and score 50 points as a team to beat Jordan and receive your reward.

Season 2: The All-Star Dunker

Jordan always possessed raw athleticism, but he put it on full display during the 1988 All-Star Weekend, earning his second consecutive Slam Dunk Contest win. Meet the Slam Dunk Champion and All-Star MVP at the rim, along with his ‘88 Eastern Conference All-Star teammates. Throw down 10 ferocious dunks to successfully complete the challenge.

Season 3: Defense Wins Championships

MJ’s defense proved to be a major contributing factor in his 1991 NBA Finals victory, securing the first ring of his career. Show the nine-time All-Defense player you’re capable of your own lockdown defense by swatting down five shots.

Season 4: Win as a Team

His Airness took home the hardware for Most Valuable Player and Finals MVP in 1992, but he couldn’t have done it without the support of his teammates. Despite being an exceptional scorer, Jordan was also a standout facilitator. Dish out 10 team assists in Season 4 to claim your reward.

Season 5: Three-Peat Triples

By 1993, the Chicago Bulls looked unstoppable. W

PS5 price to increase in select markets due to global economic environment, including high inflation rates

Game Ace Pro 0 0

The global economic environment is a challenge that many of you around the world are no doubt experiencing. We’re seeing high global inflation rates, as well as adverse currency trends, impacting consumers and creating pressure on many industries. Based on these challenging economic conditions, SIE has made the difficult decision to increase the recommended retail price (RRP) of PlayStation 5 in select markets across Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA), Asia-Pacific (APAC), Latin America (LATAM), as well as Canada. There will be no price increase in the United States.

The new RRPs below are effective immediately unless otherwise noted.*

  • Europe
    • PS5 with Ultra HD Blu-ray disc drive – €549.99
    • PS5 Digital Edition – €449.99
  • UK
    • PS5 with Ultra HD Blu-ray disc drive – £479.99
    • PS5 Digital Edition – £389.99
  • Japan (effective Sept. 15, 2022)
    • PS5 with Ultra HD Blu-ray disc drive – ¥60,478 yen (including tax)
    • PS5 Digital Edition – ¥49,478 yen (including tax)
  • China
    • PS5 with Ultra HD Blu-ray disc drive – ¥4,299 yuan
    • PS5 Digital Edition – ¥3,499 yuan
  • Australia
    • PS5 with Ultra HD Blu-ray disc drive – AUD $799.95
    • PS5 Digital Edition – AUD $649.95
  • Mexico
    • PS5 with Ultra HD Blu-ray disc drive – MXN $14,999
    • PS5 Digital Edition – MXN $12,499
  • Canada
    • PS5 with Ultra HD Blu-ray disc drive – CAD $649.99
    • PS5 Digital Edition – CAD $519.99

While this price increase is a necessity given the current global economic environment and its impact on SIE’s business, our top priority continues to be improving the PS5 supply situation so that as many players as possible can experience everything that PS5 offers and what’s still to come.

Thank you for your continued support.

*Select markets in EMEA, APAC, and LATAM not listed above may also receive price increases. Please check with your local retailer.

Welcome to The World’s Fair hotel with amenities to die for!

Game Ace Pro 0 0

Hi, I’m Tom Heaton, the game director of The Devil In Me. Today I’m going to talk about some of the inspirations for our game and especially for our antagonist, Granthem Du’Met.

The Devil In Me is the story of a group of film makers making a documentary about American serial killers. They are lured to a remote island hotel, trapped and hunted by a serial killer who is inspired by HH Holmes.

Welcome to The World’s Fair hotel with amenities to die for!

HH Holmes was born in 1861. He operated in Chicago in the 1890s and his name is tied with the World’s Columbian Exposition, also known as the World’s Fair, which was hosted in Chicago at that time. Holmes already had a shady past by the time he arrived in Chicago. He had qualified as a doctor, and there is a suggestion that he made money by digging up graves and raiding mortuaries to sell the corpses to medical schools. He also had a complex personal life. Business associates, wives and girlfriends had a habit of disappearing, often leaving significant amounts of money to one HH Holmes.

In the frenzied, energetic years leading up to the Columbian Exposition, HH Holmes built a hotel to cater for the vast crowds that would turn up for the spectacle. It was a huge three-storey building that took up an entire block. The first floor featured an elegant reception area, a bar and a pharmacy store. The third floor contained guest rooms. But the second floor was unique and dangerous. After Holmes was arrested, investigators found it was made up of secret corridors, hidden rooms, trap doors, torture chambers and rooms specifically designed for murdering people. In the basement there were tables for chopping up and dismembering bodies and vats of acid for destroying evidence in the cleanest way possible.

Holmes approached the task of murdering people with intellect and zeal and creativity. He experimented and refined his techniques. He was ruthless and highly motivated. He was far too much for the poor rubes who turned up at his hotel hoping for a bit of comfort while they took in the glories of t

Four New Added Cars!

McLaren MP4/4 ’88

A legendary F1 machine that marked the end of the Turbo era.

McLaren fought the 1988 F1 World Championships season in the MP4/4. This was a low height, low drag machine designed by Gordon Murray and Steve Nichols, powered by the Honda RA168E engine. This was also the last year for turbocharged machines in Formula racing. With the allowed maximum boost pressures reduced from 4 bars to 2.5 bars, and on-board fuel reduced by 45 litres to 150 litres in total, it was supposed to be a very tough season for the turbocharged machines. But in the end the McLaren Honda MP4/4 totally dominated the season with 15 wins out of 16 races. Of course, the chassis was very well developed, but the Honda engine which balanced fuel consumption and effective power extremely well is said to be the major factor in their victory. The number 12 MP4/4 was the car driven by Ayrton Senna. Senna put on an incredible performance this year with 13 pole positions and 8 wins and won the drivers’ championship.

Pontiac GTO ‘The Judge’ ’69

This extreme sports package was introduced for later models of the GTO, the original muscle car.

The original Pontiac GTO debuted in 1964 to great success and is said to be the original road-going muscle car. However, the 1968 second generation model changed to a more style oriented fastback and while it wasn’t lacking in performance it failed to stand up to more powerful rivals that had arrived on the scene. In a bid to make a comeback, General Motors released ‘The Judge’ in 1969. Costing a mere $332, this sports package included a staggering amount of equipment as standard. It included unique decals and racing stripes, a Hurst shifter, heavy duty suspension, wider tires, and a rear spoiler. The engine was upgraded to the 6.6L ‘Ram Air III’ V8, which was listed at 360 BHP but rumored to produce much more. As a result, ‘The Judge’ was able to top its rivals in both presence and performance, gaining it widespread attention. Just one year later though, strict emissions regulations came into effect in the Unite

Destiny 2, Fortnite, & Fall Guys; an Epic Collaboration

Game Ace Pro 0 0

When we started talking about launching Destiny 2 on the Epic Games Store, the goal was to make the game even more available to people all over the world, no matter what platform they preferred. But as soon as Bungie and Epic started talking, they realized they were huge fans of each other, and things started snowballing. This is how we ended up with a crossover spanning three games, six characters/outfits, a map recreation, and three Guardian classes reimagined as rock-em-sock-em jellybeans.

Epic Firsts

Both studios were embarking on new territory. Destiny 2 doesn’t have characters that come from other games. And on Epic’s side, although they celebrate welcoming a huge collection of recognizable faces into their universe, none of their original Fortnite outfits have appeared in any other game… until now.

“When we started talking about who would be coming to Destiny 2 from Fortnite, we knew we wanted iconic, instantly recognizable outfits that were also fan-favorites, ” said Joss Price, director of strategic partnerships at Bungie. “We came up with our short list and when we went to Epic, they were already on the same page.”

The list read: Drift, Black Knight, Oblivion.

Since the teams at Epic and Bungie are big fans of each other’s games, it wasn’t surprising that they saw eye to eye when choosing outfits. It was easy to imagine the sleek and streamlined Oblivion as a Hunter. In other cases, it wasn’t just that Drift’s long coat matched a Warlock’s silhouette, the fact that they’re imbued with magic also came into play. Black Knight as a Titan? Easy choice.

At Home in Destiny

In a well-established universe, it can sometimes be hard to specify what makes something click into place or stick out like a sore thumb. Luckily, both Destiny 2 and Fortnite have been getting regular updates for years now and both teams have gotten really good at identifying when something blends seamlessly with the universe.

Justin Dazet, Destiny 2’s commerce area lead, spoke glowingly about the team of artists working at Bungie. “Our artists are incredible at taking something that might not seem like it fits on paper and approaching it from a place we could have never imagined. We hold our art pillars very close, and I think you can see that in the consistency of our releases. Our goal is to ensure that you’re never pulled out of the fantasy.”

There’s no single way to be a Guardian. And although they take many forms and have an infinite variety of styles (#ThreadsOfLight), we share the community’s respect for the Destiny universe, and can sense when something feels out of place.

We also share the community’s passion for playing with non-canonical elements—after all, we never stopped being fans. Our goal is to strike a balance that allows us to flex our creativity in new ways while mindfully reeling things in until they feel at home.

Get your first look at Dead Island 2, launching February 3 on PS4 & PS5

Game Ace Pro 0 0

Yes, that’s right, Dead Island 2 is OFFICIALLY a thing! So why have we been so quiet? We wanted our global announcement to go hand-in-hand with an awesome demo and we’re delighted that press around the world are getting their hands on the beta build of the game at Gamescom.

We’re really proud to finally show off all our hard work!

Dead Island 2 is a thrilling first person, action RPG, set in a zombie-infested Los Angeles that we like to call, HELL-A!

So, what have we been up to? In 2018 Deep Silver Dambuster Studios started development on Dead Island 2, focusing on a pulp horror zombie experience – in your face; close, visceral, and personal.

We didn’t want our heroes to be mere survivors – we wanted them to be thrivers, running headlong into the fray with a predator’s grin and the odd wink to the camera.

We’ve put a lot of effort into building our game world, the narrative and most of all, our tactical and very, very gory first person melee combat.

In our story Los Angeles has been overrun, the evacuation effort has failed, the military has retreated and LA is in total quarantine. You are infected but immune and experiencing powerful changes to your body. To escape Hell-A you must embrace the slayer inside of you and, perhaps, the zombie inside of you too!

So what makes Dead Island 2 so unique?

Firstly, Dead Island is known for its fantastic Paradise Gone to Hell setting, and our zompocalypse takes place in none other than the City of Angels. We take players on a rollercoaster ride through many of the picture postcard LA locations, from the beaches of Venice and Santa Monica through to the luxurious mansions of Bel Air and beyond.

Second, visceral combat- our main gameplay pillar. We are unashamedly focused on zombie slaying and we spent an unhealthily amount of time passionately developing our own ridiculously gruesome gore tech (codenamed FLESH – Fully Locational Evisceration System for Humanoids). To compliment the gore we have an huge arsenal of upgradable melee and ranged weapons, an in depth and highly customizable skill card system, allowing players to truly customize their play style, and this all exists within a chaotic and bloody combat sandbox! Players can slice, dice, roast, melt, bludgeon, break and dismember zombies in incredibly stylish ways, and all fully procedurally.

Zombies are at the center of everything in Dead Island. You‘ll encounter a huge roster of gameplay and visual zombie variations all encapsulating the vibrancy and uniqueness of LA.

This is all experienced through our brash and confident pulp tone – it‘s vibrant, cocky and larger than life with a knowing wink to the camera. But let’s not forget we are pulp horror at our bloody heart, so there are plenty of jump scares, monstrous encounters and creepy locations to explore!

The demo that press are playing at Gamescom focusses this first look on our brutal, tactical combat through the “Boardwa

Deck 13 explores new combat territory in upcoming action-rpg Atlas Fallen

Game Ace Pro 0 0

Hi everyone! I’m Jérémy Hartvick, game design director at Deck13, and currently working on the recently announced Atlas Fallen. Atlas Fallen is a heroic-fantasy action-RPG which will take you to a ravaged sand-covered world where ferocious creatures await to drag you into spectacular fights. The combat system departs from our previous productions—that was one of the biggest challenges we took on… and that’s what I’m here to talk to you about!

Our team at Deck13 has gathered a lot of experience with close-combat fighting duels, and we wanted to continue in this direction, but with a different angle and completely new mechanics, aiming for even more fast-paced and effects-loaded fights that require skill and timing. We designed the combat to be easy to pick up but also loaded it up with mechanics that are tricky to perform to perfection.

Deck 13 explores new combat territory in upcoming action-rpg Atlas Fallen

While keeping a visceral feel as well as certain moves which were core to The Surge series, Atlas Fallen’s combat is primarily defined by speed and fluidity. We’ve kept ideas like the body part targeting system and the implant system, using a different approach to best support the accentuated RPG aspect. We pushed everything a step further in the direction of advanced character management and moveset customization, so you’ll get to approach combat in your own way.

Game feel is our main concern when it comes to designing Atlas Fallen. We’ve let strict constraints of realism aside to focus on giving a thrilling, overpowering feeling to the game. One of the chief design elements to achieve this is Sand Gliding, which is how the hero will move across the vast world of Atlas Fallen. It’s key to the game’s high mobility system, and it brings amazing speed and verticality to the spectacular action of combats.

Another powerful aspect of Atlas Fallen’s combat system comes from the hero’s gauntlet. Rather than using actual weapons, the magical power of this gauntlet allows the hero to manipulate the sand which covers the world and turn it into a transformable weapon. Thus, there is no need to put a weapon back before taking another out, and changing from one to another during combat becomes a seamless transition.

This leads to epic, combo-driven dynamics, which in turn feed a

New combat and gameplay details for The Callisto Protocol revealed

Game Ace Pro 0 0

Earlier this year we gave PlayStation fans a world-exclusive first look at The Callisto Protocol, a new science-fiction survival horror game from the team at Striking Distance Studios.

The response from the PlayStation community has been incredible. Fans have told us that they love the oppressive atmosphere, the terrifying creatures, and isolated deep space setting. We’re grateful for the awesome feedback. It has inspired the team as we polish the game for release in December.

But the community has also had a lot of questions – especially about the combat and gameplay.

That’s why I’m excited to be here to give you a first look at some new features that we’re rolling out this week at gamescom.

Brutal, strategic combat

Delivering an innovative new strategic combat system for The Callisto Protocol has been a huge focus for the team. Action in a survival horror game should be a delicate dance between feelings of desperate helplessness and strategic, skill-based gameplay. It’s a historically tough balance to get right.

To solve this, we made the combat in The Callisto Protocol a unique mix of ranged shooting and brutal melee, with a unique gravity weapon called the GRP (or “Grip”) that let’s players quickly move between the two.

We want players to have options, but we also want them to be terrified of every encounter as they get up close and personal with the enemies.

We think it’s one of the most intense, visceral, and terrifying combat systems we’ve experienced, and it’s amplified by some of the next-gen features on the PS5 – especially the incredible haptic feedback on the DualSense controller.

There’s nothing like feeling the powerful strike of the stun baton landing on one of the Biophage through haptic feedback. It gives me chills every time.

Mutations

This week at gamescom we’re introducing an all-new mechanic called Mutations that add even more depth to the game’s combat.

The creatures in The Callisto Protocol – called Biophage – are inmates at Black Iron Prison who have been transformed by a mysterious outbreak that has thrown the moon into chaos.  As the contagion ravages the host’s body, it spreads through a series of tentacles that violently erupt out of their flesh.

A monster charges towards the protagonist, tentacles sprouting from its torso.

When the tentacles emerge, the player has a short window to kill the virus with a few well-placed shots at the tentacles before they can wreak further havoc on their host.

Kill the virus and you get a quick takedown of an enemy.  Miss, and … well, you don’t want to miss.

Battle through the worlds of the living and the dead in The Lords of the Fallen

Game Ace Pro 0 0

The Lords of the Fallen, a new dark fantasy action-RPG, has just been revealed during Gamescom’s Opening Night Live! We at CI Games are excited to shed a little more light on the title’s vast world of shadow and chaos with the Sony community today.

In development for PlayStation 5, the Lords of the Fallen introduces players to an all-new adventure in a world that has fallen into an even darker age, over a thousand years after the events of the original 2014 hit. Players can look forward to exploring a vast and expansive, interconnected world, more than five times larger than the original game – either fighting alone in the darkness, or side-by-side in seamless online co-op.

Cezar Virtosu, Creative Director of Hexworks, describes The Lords of the Fallen as the “spiritual successor fans of the original game have always wanted. The world is significantly vaster, darker and more challenging, with faster, unforgiving combat, deeper lore, and much more immersive storytelling.”

The very first trailer for The Lords of the Fallen is a  three minute cinematic narrated by the iconic Joseph Quinn (Stranger Things, Game of Thrones). Feast your eyes below:

Battle through the worlds of the living and the dead in The Lords of the Fallen

Now that you’ve had your first taste of the accursed world of The Lords of the Fallen, we’re now going to add some further flesh to the bone with the following gameplay details:

Explore two vast, parallel worlds

From the ethereal heights of Skywalk Bridge, to the decrepit depths of the Shuja swamps, players will journey across two parallel worlds in their epic quest to overthrow Adyr, the tyrannical, demon God. While the living realm presents its own brutal challenges, untold terrors lurk in the nightmarish realm of the dead.

You’ll be equipped with a lantern of ungodly power that equips its bearer with the ability to cross between these two worlds. But it’s more than a key between realms: use this dark art to reach forgotten places, unearth fabled treasures, and even manipulate the very soul of your foe.

Goat Simulator 3 introduces ‘gameplay features’

Game Ace Pro 0 0

Hey PlayStation players! I’ve goat some new details I wanted to share with you on our silly sandbox game, as well as our first gameplay trailer, revealed today at Gamescom Opening Night Live.

Goat Simulator 3 is coming to PlayStation 5 on November 17 and we’re hyped to reveal more details on what you can anticipate. If you’ve had the misfortune of playing Goat Simulator, you’re familiar with our specific brand of nonsense, but this time around we promise we’ve tried a bit harder:

Goat Simulator 3 introduces ‘gameplay features’

The essence of Goat Simulator 3 is the freedom to explore and uncover the mysteries of the sprawling city of San Angora and cause absolute carnage. There is so much to uncover, destroy, and milk, but I wanted to highlight a few of our “gameplay features”:

Multiplayer mini-games

Got friends? Because the feature we’re probably most proud of is the 4 player multiplayer in Goat Simulator 3. Everything Pilgor does in single player can also be enjoyed with friends, online or in local co-op. We’ve added a load of mini-games, seven in fact which are:

  • King of the Hill – Stay inside the castle to gain crowns. The player with the most crowns wins.
  • The Floor is Lava – Don’t touch the lava! Use your parkour skills and climb as high as possible to escape the rising lava. Last one alive wins.
  • Car Derby – Drive into the rear of the other players vehicles to explode their bombs. Last player alive wins.
  • Prop Hunt – Classic hide and seek. If you are the seeker, find the other players by headbutting stuff. To hide, lick your desired prop. Move around when hiding to gain extra points.
  • Headsplat – Use your headbutt to paint the world. You get a point for each painted thing.
  • Hoofball – Get the ball in your goal to score points. The player with the most points wins, like usual.
  • Prop Golf – Get your prop to the flag ASAP. First player to reach the flag wins.

We’ve highlighted special areas around the island where you can unlock each mini-game, if you’ve yet to come across it before, and play in a space designed for the “best” experience for that game.

Once you unlock a mini-game you can then play it anytime and anywhere you want. Either give you and your friends a worthy challenge or activate the mini-game in the most ridiculously inappropriate or silly
